Hanshi Shimabukuro awarded Judan by Okinawan Karate-Do Rengokai

We recently received word of some exciting news and wanted to share it with you right away.

Following is the text of an email from Sensei Dan Smith.

HANSHI SHIMABUKURO AWARDED JUDAN BY OKINAWAN KARATE-DO RENGOKAI

I am very proud to announce that Hanshi Zenpo Shimabukuro as been awarded Judan, 10th Dan, by the Okinawan Ken Karate-do Rengokai in Okinawa. The Rengokai recognized Hanshi Shimabukuro for his more than 50 years of training, teaching and leading the Shorin Ryu lineage of his father, Zenryo Shimabukuro and Chotoku Kyan. Additionally, Hanshi Shimabukuro was awareded a Distinguished Service Medal by the Okinawan Government for his promotion of Okinawan Karate world wide.

The International Okinawan Shorin Ryu Seibukan Karate-Do Association (IOSSKA) is fortunate to have a leader such as Hanshi Shimabukuro to lead our efforts in the study of the Okinawan cultural treasure of karate-do. Hanshi Shimabukuro has demostrated the importance of following the principles of our Dojo Kun, placing effort, etiquette and development of character first in his life.

We are all excited to see Hanshi Shimabukuro recognized.
